I'm looking to upgrade my Husky 372XP to the 572. The 372 is my small utv/camping saw and is to the point that I am sick of working on it. Any one have experience with the newer 572's? .

That's a big jump in saw size and dang the $ they want for one of those. Do you cut firewood or run a mill?

I'd never try to talk someone out of buying a rifle or a chainsaw (unless it was junk) but I've found that 95% of my cutting (I process 5 cords of firewood plus other chores) can be handled with a 24" 460 Rancher or smaller especially if you're not cutting regularly.

I’ve got the 562 xp and the 450 rancher . The 562 is big for just firewood so a 572 would really be big, but if you cut/buck a lot it sure is nice. I need to put a 20” bar on mine. I’m running a 28” and it’s overkill for sure. It also puts the rancher to shame.

I’ll tell you this: I haven’t had buyers remorse in any way.

I cut a ton of firewood and occasionally will fall some right of way timber for a small road building outfit. I run a Stihl 661 and 046 as my firewood/falling saws. The 372 has a 28' bar on it, so it fits fairly well in my Pioneer. I've read through a ton of reviews on the 572 and they seem to be hit or miss. The 372's were one of Husky's best small professional saws. I was going to order one from Bailey's but they are on backorder.

Been using a 562XP a couple of years now. Starts right up and has plenty of power for firewood cutting. I'm a novice on chainsaws but I like this one a lot for what that is worth.

Really have not heard anything good about the big 5 series saws.

Have been trying to buy any lightly used 372s I can find. Just watch out for clone saws......

Since the 372 has been discontinued, if I were wanting to try a new saw, the 500i seems pretty interesting.

That's pretty close to what I have been reading on the 5 series saws. I may just move my old 046 into that spot and buy another 462.

I’d love to help with real user information but I’ve never used the 572 and have bad luck with Husqvarna saws. If you’re not married to the brand but are looking to spend that kind of money on a professional saw I would highly recommend the Stihl 462. When I ran a tree crew in my younger days, the German made Stihl 046 (462) that we had was one of the best saws I’ve ever used and was incredibly versatile for removals, limping, and chunking.

IMHO, if you are using it just for camping saw I don’t think you need all that saw. For my needs I can handle everything, with the exception of a big takedowns, with just my old indestructible Echo top saw.

I've always had good luck with Husky's. I still have my first landing saw. I bought it from an old sawyer when I got out of high school. It's an old 288, It's about as dependable as they come, but I don't run it too much anymore. That 661 took it's place.

I've always been a Stihl guy; I think the 026/MS260 with a 24" bar is the best camp/trail saw I've used. I've never been a fan of big saws for truck and camp use.

I’ve used the 460 Rancher for 3 years now. That thing is an absolute work horse and has never let me down yet.

Exact opposite experience. The joke in the tree industry is that home owners buy Stihls and tree professionals buy Husqvaranas.

Two large hives of Africanized bees in this old salt cedar. It was over 6 feet at the base. No problem for the old Husky! Had this thing on the ground in less than an hour.

I also have the 562 xp. I have never felt inadequate while cutting ANY tree I have cut... Tons of power. Super quick throttle. Like a lightning bolt on steroids actually.

I haven’t used the 372, but I do have some 61's, 272xp and a 288. My 272 just pulled a 36" bar with authority. Not sure if they went backwards on the 3 series, but the 2 is quite a saw for it's weight.

Check out the Echo brand saws. I had the Husky Rancher 550 and switched to the Echo 620P. I have cut 10 cords (oak& juniper) with it so far and really like the Echo. I read and watched several reviews before I bought it and nothing but good reviews. I just picked up a Stihl 311 and can't wait to try it out as a backup saw.

From what I understand the 372 has been discontinued.....Still some out there though.

THe clones can be fun if you look at them like a 300 dollar saw that you WILL have to mess with a little. I know a tree faller that uses them, because he has fun with them. His boss tells me that they are a constant hassle...

Thing that sucks is how many 372 clones are on ebay as husky saws.

Maybe guys just work stuff too hard around here. Everybody runs atleast a 30 on 70cc saws and everybody I know that ran a 562 settled on a 28. The problems I have heard are crank bearings/seals especially on the 562.
Problems that they rarely have with the 372 or 462.
