My first big game hunt was for an antelope buck with my dad in northwestern Nevada when I was in high school. This year I got to bring my son and my dad (on my dad's birthday) for an antelope hunt in central Nevada. By August, the air was thick with smoke from California wildfires. We had been hunting since daylight when we saw a buck grazing on a nearby hillside. I got so excited I went on autopilot. We watched him feed closer until I decided to get my pack and get prone. When he got within range I pulled the trigger. My son can't wait to start big game hunting and my dad said it was the best birthday he has had in years.
