Looking for suggestions on an area in central Idaho for a DIY spring bear hunt using llamas for the first time. Looking at mid May but I'm flexible.
Although I lack experience in stock handling, I'm in excellent physical shape, well equipped and experienced in backcountry hunting rugged terrain.
I'd like an area with a decent concentration of color phased bears and/or spot and stalk with a bow is doable, but neither is all that important. Mostly looking to gain experience with llama handling and ideally packing out an animal before attempting it with a coveted tag.
I'm sure this will get me laughed at and probably should just erase it off my mind but I was considering 20A with the Stoddard Bridge completion expected tomorrow (I think). I've only researched it enough to know it's not a great idea, especially factoring in potential horse traffic and a first time llama handler.
