Carrying extra arrows while backpack hunting?

My arrows are pretty stout and usually don't break any, however this year I did break the threads off a judo point leaving that arrow useless. And last year I lost a judo tipped arrow in the wide open meadow that somehow buried itself. But I still doubt that I'd take more than 5 arrows. I'd rather carry a couple extra heads and switch those out if needed.

Last year I slipped and fell on a steep and rocky slope. When I fell I slammed right on top of my quiver and broke two arrows.
I made sure to bring a couple extra this year and will from now on

However, my hunting partner and I are lucky enough to have the same draw length....so we shoot the same arrow broad head combination. Between the two of us, that 10 arrows on the long trips.

I am planning a two week Alaska drop hunt in 2016, which has opportunity to hunt multiple animals at the same time. I will figure out how to take some more arrows for that.

The multiple animal thing is a good point and something I should have mentioned. I normally have 3 tags in my pocket and have filled al of them on 1 extended hunt.

No normally don't shoot at small game.

If I was on a once in a lifetime hunt in Alaska or something way back in the middle of no where I would definitely have extra arrows. But likely won't ever get to do one of those hunts.

That's a very possible thing and brings up a good point. Probably should have a few extra in the pack.

Not to thread jack, but how are marmots to eat? One of my favorite glassing spots is in the middle of a marmot colony, I've always had the itch to shoot one but wasn't sure how they tasted and wasn't hungry enough to find out.

I bring 6 arrows and keep a judo on one for small game. If I start shooting marmots I'll bring some backup as a miss would be certain death for an arrow in those rocks.

For extended trips where there is no resupplying (i.e. dall sheep), I slide 5-6 BH'less arrows along the side of my pack and wrap the BH's in paper towels and carry them in a zip-lock (MBH's - probably would not do this with fixed blades, film canisters for those). Otherwise, the spares are in the truck.

I have had occassion to have some ACC's in my quiver break while in the field, which is one of the reasons I prefer all-carbon shafts - just a little more forgiving of abuse.

Btw, what kind of ameteur forgets his can in the truck or doesn't pack enough cope?
I'd be much more likely to forget my quiver of arrows than my can!

for me its usually 5 in the quiver and 3 in the pack. More if I go out for more than 7 days. I like to shoot grouse, and will fire at a stump every now an than to make sure me and my equipment are right. I have come close to running out of arrows before, not fun. the worst was about 15 years ago, had a rutted up slobbering moose that took 3 arrows in the boiler room and still wanted to tear me a new one, I had one arrow left and one big tree between me and him, I was pretty worried at that point and looking to climb up the tree if he took one more step
