Hey guys I'm interested in seeing/hearing how you guys use the cargo net for both daypack mode and 7+ day hunts. I was thinking 2 small belt pockets and a guide lid for the majority of my hunts here in the east and then add a xl roll top dry bag if I head West. Anyone use a similar set up? Thanks

My hunting partner uses the cargo net exclusively and loves the set up. For long trips he packs a couple of dry bags and secures them with the net. He has a small dry bag for his day hunting gear and throws that on for hunting. It is light, quick and easy. Works well for him.

He also has a Stone glacier frame and liked the cargo net setup so much he had a net custom made to go on the SG frame as well.

He doesn't use a lid, just the small bag for day hunting.

I don't think you can attach pockets to the cargo net...could be wrong though. The cargo panel would be more suited for that

Hey thanks for the reply. Yes I'm pretty sure you're correct about not being able to attach pockets directly to the net but I can still use a guide lid right? I was thinking pockets on my hip belt for small stuff. Anyone have some pictures of this set up? Thanks

I toyed with it last year. I think if you were to use a lid or stuff sack it would be the berries. Then you’ll have to pick up a bladder hanger if you use a bladder bag. Or a nakgene belt holder. Depends on where you are at. Out west where I’ve hunted, you need to carry more then one liter of water.

Anyways, I think it works great on day hunts that don’t require a lot of extra clothes. It’s light, packs meat very well, and keeps the new frames very breathable.

For eastern stuff it carries stands well and allows you to pack everything at once if you kill something.

I’d suggest a lid versus the bag option. I used an ILBE gen II lid and it worked fine. Larger capacity would have been better. So, if I were going to do this, I’d get a guide lid.

Sweet, keep the comments coming please!

Would somebody mind measuring a couple of spots on their cargo nets?

I’d like to know how far it is from the top of one strap to the bottom of the strap below it. And how far it is between the vertical straps.

I’m Thinking... it’s possible to add a pals matrix to the straps so you could hang a belt pouch or SS pocket from the matrix.

Great question, I had a similar thought. I'm not quite handy enough with needle and thread though. I was thinking zip ties!

I run the Nomad II w/ the cargo net. Hands down favorite pack in years.
I can measure later today when i get home

Here are 2 pics of the cargo net. Hopefully the yard stick is visible. KIMG0180.JPG

Or you could just redneck it and zip tie the tab loops of any pocket to the cargo net.

I think the pocket idea is good but, be aware that the cargo net doesn't cinch down taunt enough to keep the pockets from flopping around when loaded with stuff. I don't think it'd be an issue at all just something to consider it you are OCD oriented.

I have used slotted female buckles on the net to attach some pockets “lock and load” style. Easy to place wherever you want and easy to move as your load changes.

Thanks for the pics and info fellas. Will play around with the numbers and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for the help.
