I’m not new to archery. I have been shooting Hoyt’s mostly since the early 90’s. I have had other brands of bows but always went back to my Hoyt. The worst experience I ever had was with a PSE and I don’t plan on owning another one. I have never owned a carbon bow so I was just wondering if they were worth the extra money since it’s a pretty big difference in price. I have looked around and haven’t seen many carbon’s for under a 1k without having to go back several year models. I really don’t want to buy a 10 year old bow regardless. I was just quoted $300 +/- to replace the strings and tune my older current bow.
I would have said the same thing about PSE 5 years ago, however I love mine and have shot several others while tuning for people and they have been great. Hoyts are still good bows too, I just feel their carbons have nothing to offer over their aluminums in recent years.

Screaming Eagle is the only archery shop we have in Fairbanks nowadays. That’s where I went and looked at the new bows

They’re great. I bought a new Mathews Lift from them as well. Only have a few hundred arrows through the Mathews but I’d say I prefer my RX7 ultra over the lift so far.

Not sure I am good enough archer to have a valid option though.

@nphunter you are correct about finding a carbon bow on Archery Talk classified. There is a nice Hoyt RX8 on there now that the guy has lowered price to $925. The problem is, my account isn’t 14 days old yet so I can’t contact him. I joined after you mentioned it to me.
