I wanted to see if anyone out there has used Carbon Six in the past. I ordered and pre-paid for a .458 barrel for a smokeless muzzy build. They were super responsive and wanted to get my barrel made in the beginning. They told me, u front, that the lead time was six months. Well, that six months has come and gone, and I have reached out through the "Barrel Update" form on the website, as well as direct email messages. Radio silence.....No reply, zip, zero, nothing. On Thursday it will be seven months. The reason I went with Carbon Six was they offered some custom lengths which I was interested in for this particular build. I am beginning to wonder if I should have just bought a Brux Carbon #17 and been done with it. I am super disappointed in the customer service.

I have two barrels. One I got last year and the other a few years prior.

Post purchase response time is a bit low and frustrating for sure. My two came in within a few weeks of advertised time.

Being only a month late, I wouldn’t be too concerned yet. Not responding at all is frustrating though.

Search here and you’ll find plenty of complaints about them being very slow. Rumor is management has changed but I’m going to steer clear personally after so many false updates on my barrel purchase.

Their current lead time is realistically around 11 months.

A little over a year ago they signed a contract to provide barrels to Browning, so a good portion of their production is going to fulfilling those orders. I ordered mine back in July during their summer sale and have yet to get it, but I am not that concerned about it as I knew it was going to be long when I ordered.

Edit to add: Another reason I don't mind the wait is that I am confident that the barrel will be a shooter when it does get here. I have 3 other McGowan barrels, which C6 uses for its blanks, and they are all shooters and I have quite a few people that I shoot with that have used both C6 and McGowan and the percentage of barrels that didn't perform to their standards is very low.

They seem like nice barrels, but I’ve never ordered due to their inability to finish barrels in a timely matter. People are still waiting for barrels from the last holiday sale.

I might be (probably am) an outlier but my experience has been nothing but positive. I personally have owned 3 of their barrels, friends have another 3.

Mine all came in ridiculously fast. Like 1-2 months fast. All of them have shot very well.

The only real issue I’ve had is that my buddy had trouble getting his weatherby vanguard barrel screwed on. C6 had him ship them the rifle and they made it right

As stated above, there are a ton of threads here about long lead times people have faced with C6

Finally set up my Short Action Customs Barrel Vise and screwed on my 17" Carbon Six 223AI prefit for my Tikka (9 month lead time). Only after did I check the muzzle threads and they're not finished. Dang.

I'll update with how they respond.

I ordered mine during the rona and they were having supply issues. It took 8 months to get the barrel. When it did finally show up they gave me a coupon.

The thing shoots through. 20 shot group with a .28 mean radian. Can't complain. About to order a second one. 6.5 PRC.

Do you have a picture of them without the thread protector? Seems weird that it would thread on that far to just stop like that. Makes me wonder if it is just a burr where the threads meet the relief cut.

It’s really minor but I don’t have a 1/2x28 die. I’d have to order one but that would be way easier than spinning the barrel on and off three times. Plus shipping plus waiting. Annoying for sure.

I bought a barrel from them when they first started making them, in 2019 it was the same crap. They missed their promised lead times by double. I went back through my archived emails even got this.

"Your barrel is scheduled to ship out via UPS.

We apologize for the drawn out delivery time and missed estimated lead time. We are in the process of addressing the lead times on orders with extra machines and employees. We hope to have our back log caught up within the next 2 months and provide you and other customers with much faster turnarounds.

Thank You,

After that I started seeing pictures and posts about quality control issues, which steered me away from buying again. Proof is well worth the few hundred bucks more not dealing with a lying company for the last 6 years.

The barrel does shoot good but so do my Mcgrowen and Xcaliber barrels...... I had those in two months.
