Can you realistically fight off a 100+lb dog or are you going to lose?

If a 100 pound plus dog is trained or just is flat out mean and decides it wants to kill you, can a full grown man fight it off or are you potentially going to lose?

In my 20's and 30's I was over confident and had zero concern. As I grow older and like to think wiser....I now question a dog versus man fight to the death. I think I would still come out ok, but there is a thought in the back of my mind that there is a chance that it could go south.

Anybody have real experience with an attack?

Edit - no weapons (hand to hand combat)

Yes I have experience and scars. If I have a tool, I win every time. No tools, depending on where the dog grabs at the first clash, will determine the chances. You won’t leave the fight without needing stitches regardless. I think this question depends on the persons size and fighting experience. Dogs are easy to choke out.

The trick to a dog is weight and leverage. If you give him space you will lose. The only way to win is cover him and use your weight and mass to control him while securing the chompers. Either way it is going to hurt.

Do I have a knife or other weapon?

Get them off their feet and get control of the head and you got them. Do not let them have their feet and If you can, break a bone….any bone…

If you have to truly fight a big dog to the death….bring your A-game….

This is of course strictly speaking that it’s a life and death situation.

I’ve had some real dog rodeos over the years. Big dogs can be very dangerous. Any form of a weapon is highly advisable and swing it to kill.

I know a lady that got her calf clean torn off by a damn pit bull last summer. 8 surgeries later, she can still barely walk.

My Pyrenees has gotten real close to some yotes on a few occasions but never landed. I’m interested to see what would happen (also with the neighbors dumb lab mix that bares a few too many teeth)

I wouldn't want to tangle with a 50lb dog, let alone 100lb. But pretty much the only times I don't have a gun, I'm wearing tool bags that have a hammer, among other things.

I have a 110 lb Rottweiler and he's an absolute baby. Loves everyone and anyone. He's calm and happy all the time but every once in awhile I get him riled up and we horse around a little bit. Ive randomly thought, I wonder if he went wild, could I take him?.
I think i could, but I'd end up with some not very cool scars and stitches. Use your weight, get em off their feet and hold their legs and neck. Otherwise your gonna have a very hard time.
