can someone please make an ice axe/pole combo!!

i have a BD carbon whippet which i like but it would be great to have a full ice axe head for the extra function. petzl used to make the snowscopic which looked to be a good morphing of the two pieces of equipment.

i was looking at my whippet earlier wondering if i would somehow be able to cut the head of it and slide it up the inside of something like a BD raven. something like this would be great for walking in where you want a longer pole for extra stability and then when you get into the steep icy stuff you can shorten it and keep going with a fully capable ice axe, not a self arrest ski pole.

anyone know of an ice axe that has a round shaft with an internal diameter of 18mm? hint

Stubia makes a great one. I've had mine for 3 seasons. The only down fall I feel was price.

yeah i found that one. shame it's got an alloy head and it only telescopes out to 95cm.

The Petzl Snowscopic was/is one of the best one's I've seen. They're no longer made, but come up on ebay once in awhile. They get top dollar for a good reason. I love mine.
