Can one get a good quality scope for less by going with a heavier scope?

I know lightweight is all the rage these days and I'm sure you pay a premium for it. Also, read where some scopes have gone to using plastics rather than metal to save weight. Just wondering if you can get a really good quality point and shoot scope for a decent price, but might be considered a bit "too heavy" for guys on this forum. Just looking for a simple 3x9 type scope that is perhaps a bit more rugged, but is considered "heavy" by some. Could you post any examples of models? I don't know much about optics.

I'm not aware of a reliable scope that comes in under 19 ounces. I'm using the SWFA 6x42 now and really like that scope. It's 20.5 ounces on my scale and $300 at regular price.
