Just built this 7 saum on a tikka action 20” proof I have several two loads I developed 165 gamechargers and 162 eldm at velocities around 2790s that shoot bugholes at 100 yards but I cannot get it to group @600 and out on several range trips and I know it’s not me I shoot a lot out to 800yrds. Any ideas where to start? already checked torque on scope and action screws. I have about 200 rounds on the barrel

When you say “bugholes at 100 yards”, what does that mean? Cloverleaf 3-shot groups, or true 1-hole groups of 5-10 shots?

Good place to start might be different seating depths. I would try same load but jump them in .050 increments.

I personally didn't have great luck with 162s in my SAUM. 180 Hybrids and Elds ended up performing notably better.

How bad are your groups at 600?

I have found H1000 a bit touchy in my 7 SAUM- gets some spikes with minimal powder changes and possibly carbon ring if that’s a thing?

I found H4831 more consistent and easier to get good groups with the 162 eldm. That’s what I load

I could not get the 162's to work either. I went with berger 168's with H4350. H1000 hit the velocity but was not as consistent at distance.

I’m talking not touching an 18” plate bad

Like not at all to see which direction you're missing? Are you sure dope is correct and scope functions properly?

Poor dispersion is one thing but that big of a POI/POA misalignment seems like something different. I cant see you going from sub MOA to way over 3 MOA unless there is an equipment issue, elevation dope issue, or you're just not adjusting for wind correctly.

That’s the thing I’ve never had this problem before the scope was on a 300 wsm just before this and it shot great, tracked true. At 300 yards I hit dead center of the plate 6 times then it was dead on at 400 then at 5 and 6 it was all around the plate not consistent at all. wind was steady south west

OK, so POA is generally right but dispersion is bad enough that it doesn't always stay on the plate? In that case, consider me stumped unless there is strong/switchy winds happing at like 300 yds to the target.

I am with WG on this one. Good groups at 100, consistently hitting POA at 300 and 400, but not on an 18” plate at 600.

That usually means scope or shooter.

Intermediate shooters watch things go to shit past 600 yards.

600 is not a gimme based on equipment and what's going on at 100 and 300.

I thought it was me or the wind as well but same day I was staying MOA or better with my Seekins 300 mag while the tikka was cooling at 600 out to 800
