Wife wants to get the camp trailer out. Was thinking of heading south. Any recommendations on a place to go within an hour or so of Vegas? ATV trails or hiking would be what we would be looking for.

There's one campground at Echo Bay on lake Mead. I know there are a few more but never stayed at them. Used to stay at Echo Bay while doing fisheries work. Not bad grounds. From Vegas, drive through Henderson and into the park. Follow signs to Echo Bay. There's also Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area on the other side/east of Vegas. Lots of climbers go there so could be a different crowd.

Temple Bar campground at Lake Mead is great. Fairly quiet, lots of desert, shoreline type hiking. As an alternative, ,any RV parks i. lV. Great hiking at Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire just north of town. Temple Bar probably your best bet. Decent fishing as well.

Lots of hiking trails at Red Rock and lots of people too. No atv's allowed there but you can ride to your hearts content outside the conservation area. If you go up to Mtn. Springs just south of Red Rock there are lots of dirt roads and trails in the mountains. Also be aware that the senic loop at Red Rock is being repaved right now and is a mess.
The Valley of Fire is pretty nice and is quiet. There are lots of places to ride near there as well. Close to Lake Mead too.

Logandale has some remote camping and atv trails. Some areas have petrified wood if you enjoy rockhounding. Wintering area for Desert Bighorns as well. With all of the rain we have had this year, should be good for wildflowers as well.
