Just would like to know what you all slip on back at camp when it's time to peel off the boots after a long day? Does anyone pack a designated pair of camp shoes for Mt House dinner/sleepy time?

I believe this thread has been covered. Most voted crocs. I voted sanuk. But some are rocking ultralight running shoes. Might search for more info though.

Heavy socks unlesss theres a water crossing in the trip, then I have my "body glove" slippers I wear for the crossing, & when they dry, I wear them as camp shoes. This year, Im switchin to some liteweight water shoes by columbia that made for what I use them for. Might check em out @ rei. The body glove shoes suck imo.

I made a pair of slip on Sandles out of cheap sleeping padding from Walmart and duct tape cost under 10$ and weigh in at 1 ounce. Can't beat it. Just plan on a little harassment from your buddies cause they're pretty silly looking.

Solomon Techamphibian for me. Crocs way to floppy for my feet. Soles are siped like a boat show for grip on rocks etc. Reasonably quick drying although hold a little dampness. Pretty sturdy for back up. Wish the rear strap held a little tighter. I find myself tightening them periodically. Another nice feature is the back folds down so you can slide shoe on foot like a croc/mule. http://www.salomon.com/us/product/techamphibian-3.html

I'll be rocking my Vibram five fingers for camp shoes, they'll pull double duty as stalking shoes when the time comes.

I should add a real world weight for the Soloman Techambhibian for size 12. They are 26.3 ounces so probably pretty heavy, but capability since they are more or less a trail runner makes them good weight in my mind. Certainly I'd be open for lighter for a more compact shoe for a lighter pack in thinner air.

Flatlander, looking forward to your pics.

I pulled this pic off the Internet. But it's exactly what I used. They serve there purpose and are extremely light at 1 oz. only down fall is some small sticks and rocks penetrate the padding. But it's Not to bad and def worth the weight savings.

Visualize the minimus trail runners with vibram soles at 6oz, others are couple oz less. Might not constitute UL, but definitely a capable 'camp' shoe that can double for streams, walks to the biffy, etc.
