Camp Fire Story

Sitting around a fire last night with family, and a few friends the task of telling a suspenseful thriller of a scary story was put on my lap. With all my long journeys into the woods alone they figured I was full of em. Well I drew a blank. Wasn't stage fright cause I'll jump on a pedestal in a heart beat ;-) Of course I tried to put something together on the spot, but it left the kids disappointed. If any of you have the time could you post your frightening tale in this thread? Who knows, with all the members on Rokslide your story could be told all over the states. Maybe twenty years from now some young buck will be trying to give you chills telling you your own story. We'd all appreciate your time spent, I'm sure. Thanks!

There was a YouTube video that was labeled something like "3 of the scariest but true stories from the woods". The first one was about a father taking his son hunting for the first time, and while still hunting they keep seeing a guy peering around a tree looking at them. Something looked odd about the guy, so father opted to take his son away from the area. As they were walking out they heard the guy again, and saw his head peering around a tree again. This kept up, the father truly concerned decide to confront the guy. As he got closer to, he heard a thump..as he got to the tree the guy he saw peering around a tree...it was only a severed head (hence why he looked weird). This freaked the guy out and him and his son left. Supposedly the guy checked and two hikers were reported missing in that area and later found dead.

So probably not true, but the way the guy tells the story in the video...if you can recreate it, it would make for one good camp fire story.

This is one the freakiest things Ive ever read.

This guy was bowhunting, watching 8 deer feeding on acorns, 3 of the deer were separated from the other 5 by about 5-6 yards, he could hear something walking in the dry leaves, coming down the mountain, as it got closer all the deer looked up at the sound, whatever was making the footsteps in the leaves should have been plainly visible but there was nothing there, the sound continued right through the 2 groups of deer with every deer tracking it with its ears and eyes, turning their heads as it split the 2 groups and continued down the mountain.

Dont know why, but I find that tale especially disturbing!!

Ghost I've heard a story once of a old man who was buried on roan mountain, and his ghost wanders at night with the herds of whitetail that feed on the huckleberries. I see deer all the time up there on the bald humps. Always sit and wait after that. No luck yet.

I can give a short version of a real life story from when I was a kid. The neighbor lady had just moved into our area and called my parents late one night and said it sounded like a woman was screaming for her life in the woods behind her house. We lived out in the country and my dad decided to go up and take a listen. So, off we go in our PJ's to see what was going on and I will admit, that scream still makes every hair on my body stand up 25 years later. My dad yelled and tried to get a response to see if it was a person but nothing, so he speculated it was bobcat or some other cat. Now, all this took place over 30 minutes or so and it sounded like a homicide was going on.

As we stand there talking to the neighbor lady, a golden retriever comes out of the woods and runs up to us. Odd, absolutely odd. Where did the dog come from, no idea. I was probably 7 or so when this happened. Maybe this seems lame to most of you, but just witnessing that as a kid was freaky. I have had all kinds of crazy crap happen.

A close friend of mine told me that his wife told him that her parents house was haunted by her grandmother, and we just shrugged it off as something in her head. She had a bunch of folks over for dinner probably a year later or so and her and her mom were talking about it and my buddy said "bullshit I don't buy it" and as soon as he spoke, his can of bud light left the table at MLB pitcher speed and flew across the room. Not a soul at the table touched it. I have had a few other experiences with paranormal stuff that makes me wonder.

That's an easy one to explain away, it was probably someone testing the new Cypher pattern from FL...Damn deer never even knew the guy was there. See camouflage works...LOL.
