Camp Coffee

I always collect the coffee bags from hotels. The kind that have the coffee totally enclosed in filter paper. Toss it in the pot with hot water for a couple minutes.
 
Maybe what is missing in this thread is custom creamer. A local recipe has heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, almond and vanilla extract, chocholate, instant coffee and a healthy dose of brandy/ whiskey or homemade alchohol added to control local camp infections. It seems to provide a pick me up for older hunters.
 
I like Mt Hagen instant better than Vias but still not great.

I have a stanely french press if hunting with a group and need multiple cups.

If it’s just me heading out from truck or base camp every morning I use the Sea to Summit X-brew for pour over
 
All depends for me. Base camp with a stove or fire then it’s a percolator. Backpacking it’s instant.
 
Truck camp is a French Press. Solo is Aeropress or Black Rifle instant packets.
 
I didn't read through the entire post so I apologize if this was already covered. I tried a lot of different things back in the day pre aeropress era, and I found the MSR filter to work the best for backpacking. I like a dark cup of coffee, and it allowed me to steep the coffee. It also kept the oils in the cup and not filtered out in a paper filter. It was easy to clean since I knocked the grounds out after each use. The thing I learned the hard way was not to knock it to too hard in sub freezing weather. I broke a tab off. Not fatal but noted. Now I just use Starbucks via and haven't looked back.

Basecamp -- SS percolator for those that like a lighter cup and French press for me.
 
I have a stovetop espresso maker that when I start backpacking and stuff I’ll bring it with me but it makes some very strong coffee
 
These little hanging ear filter work great. Just have to use STRONG coffee to get a good cup

I ended up getting an Aeropresso Go and used it on its 1st backpacking overnighter this past weekend. It makes a real good cup and clean up is a breeze. Ground my coffee at home the night before and put into sandwich bags.
Only wish it came in a high-end double walled ti cup instead of the plastic cup and had a lid to keep it warm longer. Good purchase and worth hiking around with.

I second the MSR screen or similar rigid screen, they are an easy way to level up your cowboy coffee. The Starbucks Via is great for a quick boil up or making a second cup for your thermos. French press is great for a group if weight isn't an issue but are a royal pain to clean in the winter if you let them freeze.
 
Grounds in a pot, rolling boil for 4 minutes. drink.......be careful when you get towards the bottom
Ditto. Grounds in a boiling pot. Light weight. You can also strain with paper filter, mesh, or small stainless steel strainer. For home use, I own a vintage Revere ware drip (non-electric) coffee maker. Same size as a camp percolator, but drip/pour over type. Nice off-grid option.
