Camo or solid color for rain gear?

Both of my lightweight rain jackets are orange.

Swazi Tahr is a green tone.

Heavy Grundens jacket is orange/black.

First Lite solid brown/tan. With rainwear I prefer solid colors so I can also wear it around town. Stuff is expensive.

Evidently I’m the only hunter that uses camo. I have a Kuiu Yukon jacket and although I don’t often hunt in the rain, I use it as a rain/snow/ wind shell often. Part of my layering system. Why would I not get camo if it’s an outer layer worn often and only when hunting.

Probably don't need camo when it's raining. Having said that I tend to be patient and shop sales and clearances and my rain gear is camo. I pretty much never wear rain gear aside from hunting but curious all the comments that say solid so you can wear it while not hunting. Do y'all feel weird wearing a camo jacket while out and about? This last year I ski'd in my duck jacket which is a duck marsh blade camo whatever that is. I don't have a problem wearing a camo jacket around town if it suits the conditions.

No problem wearing camo anywhere. But if I'm going to be in the rain and it's a nice event I'm going to I'll try to make some effort to dress appropriately.

You explained it exactly right.

Went camo, was however very torn, for all the reasons mentioned. Wanted to use for ski gear as well, but what happens if all of the sudden you need to get a stalk on and don't have the camo. I'll just have to get another job to pay for the solids next year first lite season opener sale. Went with the First Lite Omen Storm shelter in Fusion.

Solid. Camouflage pattern isn't available in the brand of rain gear I use and besides, camouflage is overrated anyway.

Agree. None of my hunting gear is camo, except duck season. Well nothing bright anyway.

Have been just as close or closer to animals wearing solids when I was wearing camo. Buy what you like and can afford and have fun.

If you are stalking in rain gear, and feel like cano is the answer to help your stalk, you need to get better at hunting. Sound, wind, and movement are most important during a stalk, and none of that matter whether wearing camo or solid. A camo print moving is seen just as easily as a solid.
