You don’t need to chuckle every time you bugle, it sounds like shit, especially when you’re not good at it. Nothing wrong with a simple 3 note bugle.

Never understood the fascination with chuckles after a bugle, Elk rarely do that in any state I've hunted.

Maybe its just the area I hunt, but the bulls either only chuckle, or bugle then chuckle. Never heard a bull here only bugle besides one.
 
Yea, probably area specific. Here it's mostly 3 note "teardrop" bugles, high to low, about 1-1/2 seconds long.

This was a common morning in AZ last year.

Sounds like jurrasic park. They are pretty quiet for the most part where I hunt in colorado. But theyll talk every now and then. Never like that.
 
Pretty much all bulls in the jungles only chuckle or end bugle with chuckle/grunt. Vast majority of hunters should pass on this as they suck and requires a lot of practice, with no easy short cut like so many easy ok bugles.
