Never been myself, but have considered.

Other sites. Google this term "tejon ranch pig o rama" and it'll lead you to the treads on several sites.

I went on a semi guided group hunt their. We stayed 3 days on the archery side. We saw pigs everyday i think 6 out of 8 of us killed . We also saw bear , deer and some massive elk. The accommodations were nice , food was good. The camp cook was in his 80’s , grew up on the ranch and his stories were very amazing. This was about 5 years ago i dont know if its changed

Sounds like you had an overall pretty good time. The price has jacked up a little since then I know that. I’m debating on if 1300 is worth it or not?

$1,600 isn't worth it to me. My buddy begged me to apply for a raffle hunt and I refused. It's not worth it to me to drive from San Diego up there if it was free. I knew a bunch of guys that went and I really considered going. I understand that much if not all of ranch is going to be houses soon. And this was over 10 years ago. Looks like they are still doing hunts. What I remember is some guys went several times and it took going a couple times to get the lay of the land and figure out a good hunting strategy. If you are going solo, it could be real difficult. Yes, you will see pigs, but they are pressured and smart. Much smarter than average deer. Go over to Jesse's hunting and the outdoors forum, which are Southern Califonia forums. The Outdoors forum is a breakaway forum from Jesse's. Mostly duck hunters who got into a huge disagreement with Jesse over public refuges and kill sheets and then got banned. Go over and search and post on both forums. Not many are members on both forums. I never could bring myself to spend a lot of money to shoot a pig. That's just me. However, I went several times to Fort Hunter Liggett, 400 miles each way and was unsuccessful. I did eventual shoot a boar with a bow at this place called Hogs Wild in Coalinga, which I don't recommend. What I've seen and heard over the decades soured me on pigs. If you want to hunt pigs once and have a good time, go with a real reputable and expensive guide. That's what I learned over many years. I did have a lot of fun, but it was real hard and frustrating. California has some of the worst and dishonest guides I've ever heard of, so you really have to be careful. Bill

We got a package deal for a group was $550 per hunter that was food and lodging included, we just brought beer. They still have the group hunt im just not sure on pricing. This was semi guided , they showed you on the map were pigs have been seen/harvested but did not go in the field with you

I’ll have to call ahead and see what I can work out depending on the group size. Thanks a lot for your input I appreciate it

Having hunted public land all my life, Tejon to me was what I would expect if I hunted a high fence operation, lol.

I hunted it a couple times when the CBH yearly broadhead shoot was there (it is back now, but wasn't for a few years). You can hunt hard and be on game all day or hunt easy and be on game when ever you are out. They are not standing on the side of the road but coming from a hard hunting mentality filling a tag there is as easy as it comes.

There are a couple outfits out of King City, CA that are really good at getting people on pigs. I can't remember what the exact name of the outfits are but I'm sure you could find them with a Google search. One of my bosses use to help guide for one of them in college.
I dont know what prices would run with them, but anything over 500 dollars for a hog is just insane in my opinion. But if you got the pocket change for it, let it roll.

The pigs at Ft. Hunter Liggett have a Ph. D. In evading hunters, those are some of the most pressured animals you could hunt. On top of tag and license you would also need to purchase either a hog only annual pass for 80 dollars or general annual pass for 150 if you plan on hunting anything else. The military cops can also be a PAIN IN THE A.... out there, so heads up on that.

I lived in the area in the early 2000's and visited the ranch a few times with other guys. Nice place and can be a fun hunt. Great place to go with a bunch or friends and bag some meat. You can find cheaper hunts but they may no be a all inclusive as the Tejon.

So overall if you have the money, it sounds like it’s a high success rate and an overall great time

For $1600 you can have one hell of a hunt in Texas and bring back a lot of meat from several different species.

At that price I’d be shooting a few hogs, an axis doe, and another exotic or two. 1.6K for a hog is bonkers!

You have any outfitters names you could show me that are reputable?

that simply is bad info. in fact a huge percentage of the ranch is protected in conservation easement. it might be the largest conservation easement ever recorded if I remember correctly. There are sections of the ranch near the freeways that will be developed but this ranch is so damn big most of the hunting/ranching operation is very well protected.

I wouldn’t think $1600 is worth it for a pig. I paid $500 on a group hunt with eight total hunters. Weather was difficult and only two of us killed hogs, but I saw plenty, they were just hard to get on with the weather. That is about the most I would pay to hunt pigs.
