California Mule Door Lower Sierra Nevada's

Hello, I would like to know for the people who have attempted to hunt Mule Deer input/ in sight you can provide for looking for mule deer in So Cal, specifically Lower Sierra's. I have seen several doe and fawn. Last couple years but no luck with a buck. I have tried sticking by water source hunting low and high elevation.

Hunting CA mule deer is extremely tough especially if you did not get drawn for an premium zone (X-zone). It also depends at which season you hunt; if it is hot the deer are at high elevations and the ongoing years of drought had a huge impact on our deer population. Increasing mountain lion & bear populations have lead to additional decline as well. D-zone tags are easily to get OTC but everyone and its brother hunt these zones; so be aware the hunting pressure is high and success is low. Build up five or six preference point and apply for an X-zone then you have a decent chance of harvesting a nice mule deer!

Appreciate the Feedback. I wish they would open up and allow the take of an additional Bear tag and, open up the take of mountain lion!.
