Im relocating to sw Wyoming, looking for a smaller rural place to live, perhaps in exchange for building something for you.?small Cabin, pole barn, addition i can build ANYTHING. honest, hard charger, single, no issues, responsible, i do have well mannered dogs.i have tons of tools ,not interested in city living. When i move depends on what situation i can find. This could be a fantastic opportunity for a ranch or landowner needing help..any input from fine Wyoming residents would be appreciated.. my regular email is [email protected]... thanks. Patrick

Cheyenne would be considered SE. 30-40 minutes puts you living out East near Burns, roads are treacherous during winter west of town towards Laramie “45 minutes with good conditions “ and to the north towards Chugwater some years from November-March. Options for picture perfect “mountain style”remote living imho are poor near Cheyenne. If cabins are what you build Laramie may be better option and you desire remote living. I worked outside and my father in law was home builder in Cheyenne, not many fellas can take the winter winds working outside in that area. If your good , the people with money to burn for custom cabins and remodeling are in NW, Jackson Hole area imho.

I'll concur with what blackdawg said. I lived in Laramie for 3 years and would be hard pressed to live in Cheyenne. Only open plains there and the highway closes frequently all the until Memorial Day. West of Laramie might be a better option and you'll only be 1hr15min from Fort Collins, CO. Jackson Hole is another good recommendation and Casper might work too.

My cousin does a similar deal. Ranch work in Wyoming in the spring and summers. He heads down to south west Arizona for the falls and winters. Maybe try to emulate his plan. Following the right weather so there’s always work. I can ask him about opportunities in WYO but they will be seasonal.

Oops i ment se

Gotcha I would say that for what your exp is in that Jackson would be the place to be or even in alpine/star valley area. I live right outside of Jackson and have lived here for the three years. Unless you have lots of money or want 10 roommates look elsewhere other than Jackson.
