Has anyone seen the new Cabelas Minimalist Frame Pack yet, if so any thoughts?

I use a Badlands 2200 and have been considering a step up to a larger pack for awhile. I go on one 5-6 day trip a year while the rest are mostly day trips. The Badlands did fine last year for the long trip but was filled to capacity. I've been considering the Kuiu Icon Pro 3200 since it came out but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I also like the Outdoorsmans Pack but think its too big for my general hunting needs. I saw this new pack in a Cabelas mailing yesterday and thought it might be a great option for me since it seemed to have all I looked for in a pack including a detachable day pack.

Its a bit heavy at 8 lbs 10oz compared to my 2200 at a bit over 5lbs but not that bad.

8lbs... LOL NO WAY, 8lbs for a raw pack is stupid weight with whats on the market.

http://store.kuiu.com/ULTRA-3000-p/60013.htm - 3lbs for a full kit, same size

I run the ultra and love it, I believe the bags on the ultra and pro interchange now. BTW, 3000 is still a little small in my opinion. I will buy the 6000 bag here soon as well. The bag swaps are effortless. Dont need 6000 or 3000 inches, cinch it down. The bags themselves weigh virtually nothing. Most of the weight is in the frame/belt and even then its super light. I went from an x2 to the 1850 to the 3000 and like I said I will buy the 6000 at some point too. I hate lashing a bunch of stuff to the outside. While I can pull the bag off the frame and gain 2000 cubic inches the bag is intended to ride the frame and the space between it for a load of meat or as a last ditch effort to carry more gear. I myself need the 6000 for any length of stay in the woods.

If you want to save money and weight just get the cabelas frame and a big ol' dry bag.

The Icon pro is $425 + any accessories you add.

My friend does the frame pack and big dry sack and it's always a hassle every time we stop to get something out of it.

Some Cabela's products are great, some are not. Least one thing you get with Cabela's branded items you can take them back pretty much whenever anytime after you buy them.

However at that weight, I'd go get a Barney's frame pack and bag and call it good. Barney's stands behind their product line as good as anyone else does and they will fit you to the pack in the shop before you go out the door or if you aren't local, they will help you over the phone with fitting the pack. Barney's packs will hold up 100 times better than any Cabela's pack as well. If you want an external frame pack, go with a Barney's.
