The fannin has a windblocking layer, the guide doesn't. Guide jacket blocks wind well but designed to breathe. Feature wise they are similar. Depends on your needs and how they fit you. Try on the fannin take a look at the sinch cords for the hood, some jackets you have to unzip a bit to get them.
Cabelas new camo pattern and instinct line has me planning on making a transition as I need new pieces. Price point is reasonable and it has Cabelas lifetime defect gaurantee. Try and get Kuiu to replace an item 5 years down the road if a seam seperated or zipper failed. Cabelas just introduced their new goose down puffy. That will be my next purchase.
Sure would like to know what that down jacket weighs?
I have the hydrid jacket with the raised primaloft panel in the back. Much better than my kelvin vest as a midlayer. Packs smaller, weighs about the same, sleeves stretch, its warmer, packs down smaller, and fits perfect. Not as warm as the kelvin jacket though. It has quickly become one of my favorite pieces.
