Good evening all

I have a Cabela's Carnivore #22 1 hp grinder that I've had for several years. Last couple times I've used it making elk burger, it has started leaking oil around the main drive input for the auger, if that makes sense. This last time there was more oil than normal, and it appeared to have metal fines in it. Thinking the oil seal needs replaced and the gear box need flushed and refilled.

Anyone have any experience with this or know a good YouTube video to point me at? Thanks in advance

This is from their older pro model, but probably similar. You will probably be just as well off to source bearings and seals from a local seal shop. I’d also think that it is just a food grade grease in there and not actual oil.

You might be able to pull it apart and find part numbers on the bearings and seals. Google those numbers and you should be able to order them from several different places.

This is going to be something you will have to tear down and fix. The metal could be a bearing going down allowing gear mesh to be wrong....or it could be some casting flash that got picked up. The leak combined with the metal would point me to a bearing failure which took the seal.... but that's just an educated guess.

I'd tear it down now while you may be able to fix it for 20 bux still.
