I ordered a set of Torent rain gear from Camofire. I ordered it with the anticipation of 80% chance I would send it back. I will have to admit I am pretty impressed with it especially for the price. I wish it had been included in the rain jacket review so I could see how it compares to other brands. My question is for those of you that have used it through a season. How is the durability of the jacket? I am hunting Sept archery elk and I am considering taking it as my only outer layer. I will pack a puffy and a couple of merino shirts in different weights to layer. If the temps dropped where I needed to were an outer shell do you feel it would hold up for the week?

I have had no problems with it yet, and seems so far to be worth the cost. I only wear the pants when sitting though in cold wet weather (and I'm usually sitting on a ridgerest pad as well), and just wear gaiters/regular non rain pants/and torrent rain top if hiking off trail in the rain.

I used the c4e last fall and for turkey hunting this spring. Pretty impressive for the price. No quality or durability problems so far. But I don't hunt in briar patches either. Colorado is pretty tame.

I used mine once in the rain on a september elk hunt and then it came out of the pack. Rain seeped through at the head and shoulders which made for a cold walk back to the truck. My buddy cut a hole in a trash bag and stuck his head though and was more comfortable than me. I will be looking for a better rain jacket.

On the plus side, it fits great, I really like the hood on the jacket and it does a good job of blocking the wind, but as far as water protection, it didn't make the cut.
Maybe I just got a bad jacket??

Last fall I put these thru a good test. I sat in the rain and wind all day in these and stayed dry. I didnt have my insulation layer and it was around the mid 30s. With just a mid wt top and bottom and thin pants on I froze my butt off. They break the wind good but offer no heat trapping, which is good when your hiking but not when your still without your pimaloft. For the money I love this set of rain gear / wind gear. I am thinking of getting a second set.
