BX-5 Santiam Opinions

I have a BX-4 Pro Guide. But looking at a BX5 Santiam for the same price and wondering if I will notice a difference.

Those BX4’s get high marks and good reviews from everybody who uses them. They are known to be great value for dollar. But you never hear the same of the BX5’s. I can only speculate as to why, but don’t have a definitive answer to that.

Personally, I think it’s too small of an incremental improvement to make any real difference. I would personally save my money if I was you and go to a more significant upgrade for your next pair of binos. Go up 10 ladder rungs instead of 1. Not that I think the BX5’s won’t perform, but where you already own the BX4’s I doubt it’ll be the game changing improvement you’re hoping.

Do not be scared of the BX5 especially if you can get a good deal. I picked up a set of 15’s on here for ~$800 plus there are some 8’s and 10’s for sale now in the $500 range. Are they swaro well no, are they pretty darn good for 30% of the cost absolutely. Plus when I bounced mine off of a rock after a 10ft drop the sent me a new pair for free within 2 weeks of sending the damaged ones in.

I have both & prefer the bx5 but at their standard price point i think the bx4 is a better value.

Bx4 is better at retail prices. I have both. I would take the bx5 if you get them at bx4 prices. I see a listing in optics classifieds like 3 days ago for bx5 10x for $500. I’d def grab them if i didn’t have em already.
