Question for you guys. Shot a buck friday and the shot was a little far back so I let him sit for a few hours. He only went 100ish yards, but by the time I got to him a buzzard had picked his eyes out and went after the back hams a bit. Is any part of this deer salvageable? I cleaned him and gave the affected areas a wide berth. I have just never dealt with this before.

Thanks for any info.

Are you concerned it spoiled in the few hours or over the buzzards getting at it?

I'd just cut around where they picked at it. It didn't spoil in a few hours.

I had hogs eat the front shoulder off a doe I shot within an hour or two of shooting her. She went down just out of sight in some brush and shortly after I see the hogs working into the brush. I was waiting on a buck or hog since my buddy was up a tree also. After texting some buddies, they said the hogs would eat the deer. I got an arrow through one hog that got within range and climbed down to go check, spooking the rest.

Thanks fellas. I was mostly worried about the buzzards contaiminating something. It was plenty cold for the time it sat out. It all smells fine just have it in a cooler at the house.
