Hey fellas, anyone running a Bushnell DMR II on any 10lbs-ish rifles?

The shortish length is nice along with magnification range, albeit it's a bit portly.

Doug has an open box that's calling me, but this one has got me on the fence between DMR II or NX8 -32x.

Thoughts?

I’ve been shooting the DMRs since they came out. Great scopes.
I’ve got a DMR Pro on my match rifle. Kind of heavy for a hunter IMO, and they don’t offer Illumination in the Pro.

DMR II is a good scope, but I wouldn't put it on a hunting rifle. Look for a lighter LRHS 4.5-18 or 3-12 if you can find one used

Thanks for the reply, may I ask why?
Like FLS, I’ve been shooting with the DMRIIs & DMRII Pro for quite awhile. Same with a few of my shooting buddies. Both are excellent scopes mechanically. But the non-Pro just plain struggles optically. Mechanically and optically centered, it’s functional, but dial a few Mils away, or mount it to optimize erector, and it’s not good. Not acceptable for a scope in that class.

Also, as mentioned, they are built like tanks and heavy. Heavier than I’d want on a hunting rifle.

Thanks Wrongside.

So what happens to the image when you dial? Does it get fuzzy, out of focus etc?

I'd look into the LRTSi -12x but being discontinued, I think back on warranty support. Since Bushy doesn't AFAIK, what would be the likely replacement?

That being said, the other options within the same length and power factor are a NX8/ATACR 42 or 50mm F1/Kahles/Minox but those are a bit out of reach for the time being.

Thoughts?

Yessir. No worries :)

I don't want to sound like a hater, because I'm actually a big fan, and user, of Bushnells Elite Tac line and really like the solid construction, feature set, etc of the DMRII/XRSII lineup. But... the image degrades signifigantly as the scope is adjusted away from mechanical center on the 'standard' DMRII models. We observed similar performance across a half a dozen samples. I'm no optics expert, but I theorize that the design of these scopes just doesn't allow for lower grades of glass. The Pro models have ED/HD glass and are much better optically, while retaining the features and excellent tracking the Elite Tacs have come to be known for. I have one mounted on my comp rifle, and like it a lot. No plans to change it out.

I wouldn't lose much sleep over warranty buying a 3-12 LRTS or LRHS. They are solid, and easily my favorite 'budget' LR hunting scope. Have you looked at the LRTSi 4.5-18? I don't believe it's been discontinued? What about something from the SWFA line? It's not as feature rich, but the SS 3-9 is a dandy little hunting scope.

Thanks for the info Wrongside!

Gonna look into the LRTS models as I am needing the illuminated reticle for low light hog hunting coupled with poor eyesite :(
