Has anyone tried mounting the new Burris Fullfield 2-8×35 scope on a Remington Model seven with Talley lightweights? I have extra lows on the rifle right now and the objective clears the barrel but not the front edge of the mount. There is not a lot of front back wiggle room. Just wondering if anyone has done it and what height rings. I'd like to stay with the Talleys and mount it as low as possible. That's not etched in stone. I'll use whatever will work.

Gone as far as I can. Into the mount screw now. These scopes dont have much mounting leeway. I bought it online because no one had one within a hundred miles. Burris has measurements on the website but to be honest, I worried more about barrel contact and bolt lifr. I'm going to tighten it down and take a dremel to it. The screw head will have about 3/4 contact on the shoulder. I've already filed on it, might as well go all in. If it doesn't work, I'll try different mounts and rings till I find one that will.

I actually didn't have to go far into the screw channel cant even tell really, just a very small divot. I've got plenty of clearance with the extra low mounts. Just enough with bolt clearance also. All I had to do was knock the corner off at a 45° back to the screw head.

That scope is so short that in my mind, it's directed at the AR shooter, not bolt action rifles.

I like small scopes too. So many bulky over sized scopes, even in lower power ranges. All of my hunting rifles are wearing 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 scopes with one inch tubes. I honestly don't even need that much magnification but I'm not putting a 22oz LVPO on a rifle when I can use a 14 oz 3-9x40.

I took a 9 oz. 1-4×20 leupold of this rifle and put the Burris on simply to see better at the bench. Never had a problem hunting with it. All my levers wear the same scope. Everything else has a Leupold or Redfield 3×9 on it. My varmint rifles have older Leupold 6.5-20x scopes. My eyes aren't what they used to be!
