I picked up a 375 H&H for an African trip next year. I have a black bear hunt in a couple weeks up in northern SK. I was considering breaking it in. Is that way too much? Other than that, I have 300PRC, 7PRC, 6.5PRC, 30.06.... I think I was planning on taking the 375 and the 300. What bullet type should I look at?

Was in SK for bear first week of May with my son. I have recently put together a 35 Whelen and wanted to use that (taking this rifle to Africa next May), just for fun. My son used his 7PRC. I shot mine with a 225 Accubond load, he used a 180 Berger load. Both bears were killed quickly with one shot. Bears are not particularly tough, any of the rifles you listed above will work. Pick the one you will enjoy using the most.

Any of your calibers will work well. I took my 375 HH on a BB hunt several years ago. When I returned home I headed straight out to hunt black bears and naturally took the 375 with 300 gr swift A frames because it felt so good to me at that time. It worked great. But my 30-06 would have also worked.

This spring I used my 300 prc with 215 gr Berger hybrids and they worked great, but my 30-30 would have worked well also.

Use what you are comfortable with.
