Bullet seating depth

I just used a new set of 243 RCBS dies for the first time.

The seating depth stayed within 0.001 with Sierra Game Changers. Loaded 24 test loads to see about powder charges.

I'll agree that alot of things matter when chasing benchrest type accuracy and making cases more uniform as you say above is a part of shooting small, but I can't see my seating depth being affected by anything you mentioned. Everything you mentioned would however affect neck tension.

The things that stick out in my mind as the biggest contributors to seating depth woes are shitty bullets that needed sorted to begin with, and compressed loads. Highly compressed loads can really fight ya sometimes.

I got the comparator and already had the OAL gauge. Using the comparator everything is much closer, thanks for the advice!

Tag on question. Once I measured the OAL to the lands will I need to do that with each new bullet I try or is that a constant since it’s all measured to the ogive?

Also tag on Q2, am I doing something wrong if I’ve shot 22-250 brass 4 times now and haven’t needed to trim? FL sizing each time, using a Lee case length trimmer. Heard 22-250 stretches a lot.

Yes, the Ogive of each bullet design is different.

No you're probably not that high on pressure. No trimming is a good thing.
