I have a youth 257 Roberts that the girlfriend is going to shoot for elk. I know some say it’s marginal, but I already own it and she enjoys shooting it, so for now it will have to do. I have it sighted in for 110gr accubonds at 3000fps. It shoots them pretty well. She won’t be shooting much past 200 yards. I found some 120 Nosler partitions at 2850fps. I think the partition would be a better elk bullet, but is it that much better? I already have accubonds and the gun is sighted in with them. Do I go through the PITA to switch?

Stick with the accubond it's a wonderful bullet.

I’d just leave it as it. Let her practice out to 300 and 200 should be no problem. The accubonds will be perfect for elk in the 257.

around 45 grains of IMR4350 and a 100-grain bullet. At longer rahnes the Sierra or Speer will work fine, but at shorter ranges I'd use the Partition--which of course will also work great at longer ranges as well.

his usually gets excellent accuracy and around 3000 fps, exactly how much depending on barrel length. I have yet to meet a youth the recoil bothered, though anything us possible.

Keep the Accubond load. The only bullet I'd use instead would be a mono like an e-tip or ttsx for maximum penetration.
