I have an old English, John Harper, SxS 12 ga. I was shooting off some old reloads in which the shot had fallen out. 1 round had a double explosion, as soft one followed by a louder one (seemed like a hang fire in a way) the second one created a bulge in the left barrel about 6" from the muzzle. Is this repairable or is it ok to still use with light target loads?

Think about it this way. If its bad, its bad. Dont mess around with malfunctioning firearms. Go to a gunsmith, or keep as is for an ornament. Would be quite the story hanging on the wall.

Is it Damascus by chance since you said it was old and English?
Maybe you just unintentionally jug choked it and it will pattern great out of that barrel…
