Building my elk rifle

Im your age and I shoot a Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech in 7mm mag. I changed out for a carbon fiber stock, had some trigger work done and direct thread mounted a Scythe TI suppressor. I run a Leupold VX6 3-18x44. It shoots sub moa with Hornady Precision Hunter 162 ELD-X factory ammo. The recoil is less than mild and the performance to 500y (and beyond) is exceptional. Its right around 9lbs give or take.

Both are great options. I have both and personally like my 300wm more.

If you want a lighter 30cal then grab a 308 or 30-06. 300WSM would make more sense in a shortened rifle then 300WM. If you like 7mm and you want to go lighter, then a 7mm-08 would fit the bill nicely.

I've had a couple different 30 cal magnum rifles I hunted with a lot when I was younger. These days it's either 6.5 CM or 7 PRC. Everything still dies.
