I’m going on a trip in October and meeting some friends on site. I will be taking myself but three people worth of gear.

I could also potentially be bringing home three elk Meat, antlers, etc

I have a long bed pick up with a fiberglass cap. I would like to build myself a cooler in the bed of the truck.

I don’t think a small freezer will work under the cap.

Has anyone done this with blue board, Styrofoam? Is it feasible?

What do I need to know?

I anticipate coming home with dry ice in the cooler. I can also make large and flat if need be and stack stuff on top.

I built one many moons ago out of 1/2" plywood on a 2X2 frame. 3 sheets of 1/2" blue insulation piled together in each wall, bottom and lid. I believe it is about 360 qts or so and we had close to 400 lbs of frozen, boned out meat in it one time. This one stays in the truck when used, ratchet strapped down. It keeps meat frozen for many days with no dry ice if it is full. This would hold probably 2 boned, frozen elk or more.
