I used clean 1 1/2" drain rock on top of a 5-6" perforated drain tile which sloped with grade. Also utilized fabric on backside to avoid weed growth between the blocks.Looks great, what did you backfill with?
I used clean 1 1/2" drain rock on top of a 5-6" perforated drain tile which sloped with grade. Also utilized fabric on backside to avoid weed growth between the blocks.
Topped with 12" of clean topsoil.
Used a gas-powered compacter for the footer gravel to get some extra ooomph with that.
This hill was a pita for years. tried seeding it but the sun just burned it up every July. (North Idaho is essentially wooded desert July-Sept every year.) I tried boulders on fabric, but the weeds overtook everything.
Ultimately decided that a wall was the best way to solve the problem.
Got a quote from a wall fella, he wanted $5500"/-. Built it for about $2000 with gravel, soil, backhoe etc.
Looks great! I did mine 2 years ago. Took over a year of nights and weekends. My back says again.
Damn fine!Looks great! I did mine 2 years ago. Took over a year of nights and weekends. My back says again.
Took about two weeks + with running back and forth for block, etc. Living remote has it's perks, but it can be a pita too. grin.Nice work? How long did it take you to build?
