Budget puffy pants

You can pick up some polar fleece pants for cheap on Amazon. You'd have to wear them under your pants, but you can get 250gsm weight fleece pants for like $15 if you look around on there.

ECWS III Primaloft. Already have zippers. Amazon $30-40 depending on size and condition.

Just make sure you order the suspenders. These won't stay up on any normal human being, as the waist elastic is very weak. They are definitely WARM. Would make a good deer stand or glassing pant. I have a pair.

How about this? I just bought some strictly for sleeping in and around camp. I have fancy leg zip ones that I would pack around. They fit small, I’m a medium in kuiu, sitka etc and wear an xl with them. https://www.amazon.com/Tapasimme-Utility-Waisted-Compression-Trousers/dp/B07YKQ3GNW

I was just about to buy these - have you worn them at all? Just curious how they fit and if you like them?

I was debating between Medium and Large and think I am going to go with Large now.

Compared to my 1st gen super down in a large. The cheap pants feel warmer, denser fabric, no zippers and tight elastic cuffs make a better seal. Weight is right at 16oz vs 10oz (kuiu). Cheap pants are about 2 inches shorter. The waist elastic fits me comfortable (34 waist), could easily accommodate 30- 38. Slightly roomier in the thighs but not baggy.

I took turns wearing both this morning ( currently 12f with a feels like of -4 ). The cheap pants are warmer, a better stand alone pant. Kuiu pants are more versatile meant to be part of a system. Construction looks good but it’s too soon to say. Again sizing is wonky, the length seemed to disappoint on the reviews so unless you’re a 30” or less inseam I would go up.

Never had a garment with duck feathers....says only 10% down. Just as warm? Upside/downside?
Thanks

I was just noticing that on true timber site. Seems like it would be a mis print but it says it on both models. 70 feathers 30 down or 90 feathers 10 down. If that’s correct I think I’ll pass.

That's got to be a typo, right? Has anyone emailed them?

I’ll second the ECWS. Can find them pretty cheap on eBay. Bulky, heavy, but warm
