I am looking at purchasing the new Browning XBolt Speed Ovix SR with 18” barrel once it comes out. I may pick one up in both 6.5 Creed and .22-250. Question I have are the xbolt stocks able to be swapped? I may want to see if someone who has a Hells Canyon stock may want to swap with me for the Ovix camo. I don’t want two rifles with same camo pattern. I’d buy the regular speed but like the 18” barrel for hunting purposes. Any insight is welcomed!

If you swap stocks on Browning rifles you would have to remove the existing bedding around the barrel lug and bed for the new action. Also the barrel profile in the stock may not work. I am not familiar with the profile of the 18” barrel but I do know that you can’t swap a HC Long Range into a HC Speed stock because of differences in the profile, without reworking the barrel channel. Hope this helps.

Did you happen to mean the speed LR? Did that come with the cheek comb? I have a brand new hells canyon stock I would entertain swapping if still interested?

I was wondering if you ever performed the swap described above? And if so, any lessons learned?

I haven’t. I got impatient on the OVIX coming out and built a 22 Creedmoor off a Tikka action instead.
