Hi-

Have had good experiences with browning rifles over the years and own several in A-bolt and X-bolt variations. Can anyone share their thoughts on the value of the pro version now being offered vs the standard?

Thank you

My standard X-Bolts shoot half in groups. Every time I think about getting a Pro, I remind myself it probably won't shoot any better. Especially considering the price difference. With that being said, hunting with a rifle you really, really like makes the experience that much more enjoyable, at least for me.

Thanks manitou1, I agree. Was wondering if the lapped barrel brought anything beneficial, other than more accuracy out of the box, maybe? Also the fore end of my composite stocks seem pretty flexible. Maybe better with bipods? Thanks again.

Agreed, that fore end is the biggest fault. I take a dremel and rough it up, cut some "gripping grooves" and put JB weld in there. Firms it up nicely.

I have bothe the HC Speed and the Pro. The big difference is the stock. Carbon Fiber or polymer (i think).

The carbon fiber is much stiffer and has a better feel. The bolt handle on the Pro is a bit longer making it near perfect. The regular Xbolt feels a little short compared to the Pro.

Both shoot very well. Both need a trigger spring to reduce pull weight. (I installed a M*CARBO).

I think it is worth it to upgrade to the pro for the stock. It is stiffer and lighter.
