I recently purchase a Browning X-Bolt .223 that has 1/8 twist and an 18” barrel. Everything I’m reading is that the 1/8 twist prefers a heavier bullet. Is 55 grain factory ammo going to be too light for this rifle? If so, what factory ammo do you recommend since I don’t reload my own.

You should be fine to shoot anything from 50-77 grain with the 1:8 twist. I had a 1:8 twist Savage that shot 50gr vmax better than anything else.
I'd recommend picking up a variety of different factory ammo to see what your gun likes best.
Pickup some 50gr and 60gr vmax, some 55fmj to plink around, some 69gr bthp or smk or tmk, some 77tmk, some eldm and eldx. Shoot it all and have fun!

I’ve had good luck with the 60 grain v max’s and the 62 grain Sierra GK’s outta my AR’s. But I’ve got a savage that’s a 9 twist that loves the 55 grain Sierra BK’s, so I’d try a few different flavors if you can swing it.
