Browning BAR MK4 ... improved accuracy ?

I’m just glad that they only included the Picatinny rail on the models with the hideous and completely unnecessary 10 round box magazine sticking out into your back while you’re trying to carry it.

Kind of a situation specific rifle, but I dig mine. I bought it for AK Moose(typically hunt out of a boat) and TX Pig hunting. I put an NX8 2.5-20 on it. My good friend in colorado hunts everything with his - his shoots great as well. He has taken moose, elk, bears etc with his.

The BAR DBM is a great alternative to an AR10. Way lighter than most. I had a Ruger SFAR for a while and hated it. I was going to try one of Christensen’s AR10s and my buddy recommended this. Semi autos will never have the accuracy potential that a bolt gun does and will never be as convenient to carry as a bolt gun with a flush mag, but for what they are, they are awesome.

When you say scatter, what do you mean. 5” groups at 100 yards? Or just outside moa

They go from touching to 2" and larger spreads.

I am not including ar and ak style platforms. I’m speaking browning and benelli semi auto rifles, any make lever action, pump rifles

I agree ... great alternative to AR10s ... light and reliable, etc.

I am actually looking at the DBM Mk4 in 308 ... If it could consistently shoot in the neighborhood of 1.5" to 2" at 100 yds, I would like to get one.

Just took a brief look at the Benelli ... and I think I prefer the general attributes of the BAR

I mean it’s def a personal decision. Benelli is only offered in 30-06 n 308.
I will prob get the blr or bar

I have found some additional feedback for the BAR 4x, which seems to be the same as the Mk4

I think the Mk4 is for USA and the 4x is for outside of the USA?

I am considering purchasing a Browning BAR MK4 in .308 .... As a hunting rifle (which will be rare) and to use at the range out to a max of 600 yards

I have heard that BAR rifles are quite reliable, but the accuracy reports have not been so great.

Browning is advertising that the MK4 is more accurate than their prior BAR models ... and I am wondering if anyone has any real world experience with the MK4.

I have the mk4 ovix in .308. It is extremely picky with factory ammunition. The CX 150gr outfitter ammunition shot so bad I thought something was loose. The Hornady eldx 178gr shot the best at right under 1moa average. I tested about 10 different brands and grains finding it's favorite.

Setting up Talley rings and leveling the scope was frustrating. The half rings wouldn't agree with each other on level, neither using the flat of the magazine well, or the flute on the barrel. I settled with the front ring half. It does not like Alberta -20c weather and becomes a straight pull bolt gun. This might wear in and it became less of a problem running very light oil.

I don't like the play in the forend, although I haven't had fliers or groups open up from having pressure shift along it. Feels like it should effect the accuracy.

I do love it though, it doesn't feel like a huge drop in accuracy from my Tikka T3X. The trigger is pretty decent. It maintains 1moa out to 300 yards and when my cds dial comes in I'll push it out further.
