I'm curious what all you all's thoughts were on brown hunting cloths, specifically tops that are solid brown with regards to safety. I've never trusted other hunters fully and brown clothing tends to look like the coat of almost all big game animals in North America. As a SW Oregonian I will never wear black in the woods. Black means bear and you don't have to identify horns with a bear. Sure, you have to be sure it's not a sow with cubs, but there are enough unethical and unsafe hunters out there that I will never wear black. There are also quite a few bear here so hunters expect to see black bear. Some bear are brown here as well but I feel most hunters give them a second look as they are not as common as a black phased bear.
I notice many hunters wear brown and I would like to think its a versatile color, and a good alternative to gray, for wearing around town and while hunting. So what's the consensus? Is it as safe as any other color? Would you stay away from it? Is it the same as a brown camo like fusion that can look like an elk hide from hundreds of yards away? Does it matter if you are bow hunting or rifle hunting? Different species? I'm just curious to see what you all think.
