Brown bear rug or mount?

Thank you !! it was a dream come true its hard to fathom the size when its a bowl of jello laying on the ground.when I picked him up from taxedermist it was like wow.their was another bear their at taxi no comparison in size.
Damn that's a big bear!

For those that don't like the open mouthed "snarling" look on a rug, another open mouth option is the drop lip or "panting" pose. IMO it looks great, you still get an open mouth but not at all in an aggressive posture.

I just had this mount of my bear and wolf installed at the Kittery Trading Post in Maine, done by my taxidermist friend who folded in a moose and extra wolf that he had in his shop.

I have a 9 ft 3 inch grizzly that is just a hair short of all time BC. Felt it deserved a full size mount. I waited about a year before I gave taxidermist the final pose. Allowed me time to go to shows and search internet for mounts

Hide > rug > shoulder mount > life size mount

Unless you have lots of money and space, I say tan the hide. I’m now in the minimalist taxidermy camp and would prefer to use those funds on future hunts.

Tanning my brown bear hide instead of rugging it save me thousands.

My griz' I life-sized since the hide was perfect. I have 2 brown bear hides tanned for the moment. Can't decide if I'll even do rugs, life-size or just leave them draped over the railing. IMG_0289.jpeg

I have an archery bear "slam" all rugged in one area of the house. The brown, polar and grizzly are all on one wall and neat as heck to my eye. The black is just across from them. Wouldn't want them life-sized but that is just my taste.
Polar bear with a bow and arrow sounds exciting.

I think I’m going to go one step further with the next brown bear I kill and just skin it, flesh and salt the hide, and tack it to the outside of the cabin.

I’ll add some thought here. I’ve had my hands inside a couple hundred brown bears and not all of them would look good as a rug. Or as a mount. Some hides would make awesome rugs. Some would make awesome mounts. Almost zero of them would make awesome standing mounts. Looking at their dick and balls and thin crotch/belly hair is just the weirdest thing to me. Never liked standing mounts.
Have seen bears stand, have even shot a couple while they were standing. But the mounts are just odd to me. But that’s just me.
I’ve seen some great Lifesize, half size mounts. And some great rugs. But for me, the hide itself would likely dictate what the best use of the bear is going to be.

I am however a huge fan of the take the claws, scrap the hide. Save that money for something else.
