No experience yet, but a friend and I are using Brooks Range for a DIY moose hunt in 2020. So far they seem pretty solid.
To avoid the Wrights Air cost, one could rent a vehicle and drive to Bettles from Fairbanks. But that too wouldn’t be cheap since the vehicle would sit unused during the hunt. Would need to compare the cost of each.
You cant drive to Bettles, closest you can get is pump station 5 on the Dalton highway. Brooks Range Aviation will then come pick you up in a beaver. that 20 minute flight will cost you $500, so add that into your cost.

They also have an otter for the return flight if you have a ton of meat.
I was largely unimpressed with BRA. They were extremely unorganized and almost impossible to get answers from. We made a down payment and then she tried to charge us the full price at the end. Luckily we saved all emails on our phones to prove our point because she wouldn’t budge (there is no cell service or wireless in Bettles.) I compare air services to the numerous others I’ve used across the state and I put BRA in the bottom half. With that being said, all their hunters seem to do well. Had a friend pull two 60+ inch bulls on a float 3 years ago.
I also heard a podcast about a month ago where these guys flew with them towards the end of the season, were dropped on a lake, and ended up running into a packer hauling out camp on mules who said they already took 4 large bulls from the valley. You can’t convince me that BRA didn’t know there was a guide there all season - especially since there were mules it suggests the camp was either close to Bettles or the road.
Bring a pack of light bulbs in case Garrett flies you out. When he refuses to talk to you because he hates hunting season break one over his head and tell him to lighten the F up!
