Broadhead tunning

I noticed a few threads on this lately. But was curious if many people have been lucky enough to get paper tuned and sighted in and there broadheads shoot well? Is this scenario the rare occasion?

Paper is kinda a rough starting point usually.

Generally a fair amount of range a bow/arrow can bullet hole, but might still not be getting great flight with broadheads.

If your bow is tuned, you build good arrows, and you're shooting bullet holes through paper it should be pretty close. Having a micro adjustable rest generally makes the last bit pretty easy.

I have never gotten lucky even once to have a "bullethole" paper tune at 6' with fletched translate into my fixed BH's and field points hitting together at even 20 yards.
This is why so many say that paper is just a starting point.
There are different results depending on the type of paper tuning though. Shooting a fletched arrow through paper from 5'-6' is the most basic IME. Getting a bare shaft bullet hole at several distances through paper is another story.

Yeah, its hapoened to me…but usually no…I consider paper tuning with FPs as the 1/2 way point of tuning.

it’s worth noting, that when paper tuning you can over shoot the tune.

So if you are moving your rest more than a tiny bit and it’s not working,, try moving it back the other way.

Will throw my hat in - for me my best estimate is that 75 to 80 percent of time if I have a great not good, but great bullet hole I am fine with fixed blade broadheads.

As long as I don't have a large crazy tear in paper I Move on to broadheads. If your form isn't spot on with bareshafts it can be a long time consuming task chasing your tail. The funny thing is after turning broadheads shoot a couple bareshafts and they are usually pretty good. I did this today but this was a follow-up to broadhead tuning. I'm going to try a click up and a click right and see if I can get them closer

I’m with the majority it seems. I shoot through paper (with fletched arrows) at like 8 feet or whatever and get as close to a bullet hole as I can. That usually gets my broadheads and FP’s hitting close enough together that I can shoot in the yard and tweak my rest until they come together. One BH, one FP, over and over until I like it. Normally takes a week or so until I’m fully confident in where it is but I look at it as just normal practice.
