Ok I’m asking one of the most asked questions on here but wanted to make sure my line of thought is correct. I’m shooting an Xpedition Denali 29” draw with 520 grain black eagle rampage 250 spine arrows at 267fps. I’m shooting three shot groups with one broadhead l (QAD Exodus) and I am getting about one inch groups at 50 yards with my field tips but my broadheads consistently are shooting low and right. I built my arrows myself squared, floated, spun, fletched, etc every one and am shooting bullet holes through paper. I currently have AAE plastifletch max vanes PM 2.0 that are shield cut 2” long and .33 high. On some shots I can see some slight porpoising of the arrow. I am thinking I am undervaned and going with something like an AAE Pro Max in 3 or 4 fletch or essentially something that will steer better. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I would appreciate the help!

Garrett Weaver from OnPoint has a great YouTube video on this, as well as Ranch Fairly.

How far low and right? Move your rest up a hair at a time(1/32) until they come together. Then trying moving your rest to the right a hair at a time. Only do one movement at a time.

It was probably 8 inches low and 3 right. I was worried by moving my rest it would throw the paper tube off but apparently that’s the way to do it from the videos Zac sent over. Thanks guys.

Don't worry about the paper tear. Your broadheads are telling you that you have nock left and nock high arrow flight. You need to fix that.

The fletching is correcting your arrow flight with the FP's. With a BH on the front of the arrow the fletching can't overcome the poor arrow flight as your BH is steering the arrow from the front. Shooting through paper will get you close, you then need to clean up the arrow flight with bareshafts or BH's.

If you're shooting BH's then BH tune your bow and don't worry about paper. However, fletching does change things up on how much tuning is needed. A couple years ago I tried Q2i Fusion Xii 1.75" vanes in a 4 fletch with fixed heads. They flew fine, but consistency was sporadic. So I stayed with the same style vane in their 2.1" in a 4-fletch......but consistency still hasn't been perfect. Then recently I tried my old 2" Quickspins in a 3-fletch again and BAM......immediate results. Much more consistent and tighter LR accuracy with both FP's and fixed BH's without even changing the tune.

Paper tuning only gets you 1/2 way there.

Shoot for groups and adjust your rest so BH's are hitting with FP's. If you get one arrow that doesn't group- try twisting the nok [nok tuning] and shoot again. Sometimes you will have to refletch if you find one with poor spine consistency.
