I’m thinking of trying one of the VPA heads and exodus heads. The wac’em shoot great for me but I’d like to see how the VPA do. Anyone else shoot them?

I've not hunted with Cutthroats BUT have been shooting them this Spring and summer with great field point type accuracy out to 50 meters . I find sharpening them easy and am gonna go with them as my primary elk and deer head this season. VPA 3 blades I'll also bring as they are another solid blade that fly well for me and are easy to sharpen.

I shot Ramcat single bevels last year and they performed great. I didn't like continually re-tightening the allen screws during practice however so I am going to shoot Ramcat Diamondbacks this year.

FWIW, Op pushing these heads on multiple sites under the guise of, "I might use these......."

...pretty transparent.

Just pay the site and become a sponsor why don't ya......

Bro, you have no clue
Not pushing anything and I don’t get anything. I had to pay for these just like anyone else so why pay for a sponsor.

Here is to your assumptions

Ulmers Edge had a patent issue. The new SEVR heads look to be the cats ass. They will be my go to head for deer. Elk Iron Will and Exodus in the quiver. They both fly on point with my field tips within 1"

Will be curious on the SEVR heads myself.

I have shot the Red Head Gators for Years after Rocky Mountain closed. I love the way they fly and the blood trails are awesome but have recently become concerned that they have done something to cheapen the blades on 3 of my last 4 whitetails I have had at least one blade snap off. I never had that happen with Rocky Mountain and the earlier RH Gators.

Do you plan on using these on anything bigger than deer? I would prefer to shoot the gator for my upcoming first elk hunt but because of my recent experience I switched to Slick Trick Viper Tricks.

Also have you looked at the Tru Glo version? I haven't seen them live but the pictures look like they are more heavy duty than the regular Gators.

Yes, plan on using them on elk as well.
Will have to look at the Tru Glo Version your referring to

I don't think that's Shane's (Ontarget7's) thing. He's given a lot of free tuning and setup advice, mostly on AT, and definitely knows what he's doing behind a bow. Can out tune and out shoot me so I always click on his gear / tuning threads....

VPA: Shot non-vented 125's. Very strong head. Bomb proof. Easy to sharpen. But, not as forgiving for me like the Wac'Em was. Good shots were always good, but when I made a not-so-good shot the misses would be worse than with heads like Shuttle-T, Wac-Em, Solid. Great head for broadhead tuning because they showed tune errors quicker...

last couple of years my go to have been 125 grain NAP Killzones but after listening to Aron Snyder talk about a decline in quality on Kifarucast I'm hesitant to buy more. The other head I've been messing around with are Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades. They fly great but have yet to see what they do on an animal.

I definitely agree with this. I think Shane is more of the open book kind. He's trying something new and starting a thread to discuss that and other broadheads for the year. Although he definitely can't out shoot me (as long as he is blindfolded and has to shoot a left handed bow)

I am planning to try the Iron Will and Sev/r Combo. I think having 3 of each in the quiver will be an awesome combo

Iron Will solid 125's. So far I'm very happy with my testing of them so far (very quiet in flight, spin and fly true, one head was shot into a block >30 times and it very easily re-sharpened).

Always been a mechanical guy because, admittedly, I'm ignorant when it comes to bow tuning. But that's going to change. I'm committed to learning how to get it to shoot straight instead of throwing a bandaid at it. That being said, I'm gonna give the KuduPoint 150s a try this year. Anyone have experience?

OK, my bad.....its a pet peeve of mine....... shills pushing products on these forums.

FWIW, I'm 5 for 5 with mech heads long ago on elk switched to COC fixed. I wouldn't use that mech head now even if they gave them to me.

Used VPA a couple years ago and as been mentioned, can magnify mistakes, but also holds together well (obviously). My go to is Wac'em and have killed a bunch of elk with them. Used Slick Trick Standards last year and will probably use them again this year.

250 Valkyrie Jagger. I was a dedicated mech /hybrid user and never had an issue, but a high FOC setup with that sort of head opens up all kinds of shots that mechs just can't handle. I'm at 570/21% FOC.

Going to stick with Magnus Stinger 2-blade 100 grain for shots 40 and under. Anything further and I may shoot a swhacker.
That sounds completely backwards to me. A mechanical is going to have worse penetration at longer distances(and any distance really) than a fixed blade. Throw the god awful blade angles of a swhacker on top of that, and you've got a perfect recipe for 6" of penetration.

Shot selection and arrow placement trump everything else when hunting elk with a bow. I'd still only take good shots with a high probability of success, irregardless of the bow, arrow or broadhead chosen for the task. Good luck this fall.

I switched to mechanicals last year but I'm switching back to fixed: gonna shoot the Wac'em 3 blade head. Flies great for me and ridiculously sharp out of the box.

I didn't get a single pass-through on any of the whitetails I shot last year with mechanicals and I'm shooting a 500 grain arrow at around 295 FPS out of my rig. Arrows would penetrate out the other side, but they would stay at least half-way in the animal. Only time I ever experienced that with a fixed blade is when I put it through both shoulder blades.

What set up are you shooting where you have 500 grains at 295????
