Brainstorm Solutions for the Western "Tag Crisis"

Not sure how any clear eyed reading of your posts on this thread could lead to any other conclusion other than any non-resident concern about tag availability is invalid, and they should be happy with what or if they get a tag.

Your not wrong about my posts in this thread. I certainly came off like a dick.

Anyway I have lots of family who want to hunt and yes it does suck that they have to play yhe points game for lack luster tags
However herds are not doing well in many places so it is what it is.

Ive been saying for a few years now that the general deer tag I like to hunt should go to a draw tag for at least a few years or make it an every other year tag, just to help boost the deer population.

You're...... just kidding man!!!

We are all good. I am thankful, like you, that at least I don't have to worry about where my next $36 elk tag will come from. I even think I am finally starting to get them figured in a few areas. Also grateful that Idaho is being proactive to keep it that way, even if I don't like some of it.

These types of threats are the absolute dumbest. They do not solve anything.

“Don’t click on it just keep scrolling”.

Why are you wasting your time hammering away on the keyboard, typing up something that will make no difference whatsoever to the decision-makers??? NONE.

I Was asked to provide my input, but I don’t get involved in a circle jerks.

Oh stop it. This is just a bunch of keyboard warriors that blame their lack of hunting success on not being able to get a great tag every single year.

Every year. Like clock work. Taxes. And death. Silly threads about how to solve the problem and fix the system. Just a bunch of unsuccessful dudes whining. Shouting in a corner to themselves.

Develop a system where a hunter can only apply to one state each year. It would require a centralized system but hunters applying and possibly hunting in multiple states compounds the issues on available tags.

One state in addition to his her home state?

Mentioned here and elsewhere....

Hunt and kill predators in the state you wish to apply for and earn an application. Predator kills would be verified and documented and could even be correlated to the tags/applications. For example in MT: kill a wolf to apply for anything. Kill a few coyotes to earn a deer application. You want to hunt sheep? Kill a lion. Etc...

I know this would financially cripple the state game agencies, but there needs to be more intentional predator hunting.
Love it.

I would even be supportive of this to allow the WA state resident deer tag to be used on a muley. Cougar lets you hunt muleys for the following 3 season, bear or 5 yotes for the next 1. Heck with this you could make the mule deer season the whole month of October and delete the APR.

seeing western residents whine that 7 tags a year isn't enough and there is a tag crisis makes me want to stop my financial and political support that I provide for western hunting and conservation causes. the only reason I don't is that I know there are some good people that work hard that deserve my support.
