Braggin Board for Fishing!

Had a big run of pinks this year. Took my grandson's out and they had a blast. Smoked 'em and sent home with them to MT

I know pinks have a bad rep for tablefare, but fresh pinks right out of the salt aren’t that bad. I have never had a river pink, but I would imagine fresh pinks dealt with properly and smoked are better than any smoked salmon you would find in a grocery store

I bet pinks would be really good pickled too. I pickle a good amount of winter steelhead, and it’s a good way to eat fish with less fat content

Another good way would be light smoke then canned. I’m a fish snob, but I’m not above eating fresh pinks or winter steelhead, you just match ways to eat fish depending on what they are

The hens fresh are great. I also do the quick smoke on them and can them. That is man candy. We cleaned up on them this year. Might not have to fish in 2027.

Yep, I agree, fresh pinks are OK and they're excellent smoked. Had some smoked pink then canned (dry) from friends in Ketchikan and it was some of the best smoked salmon I've had, and that includes sockeye and chinook.

Satisfied my bull quest. Not the biggest but solid fighters. Rainbows were insane too. Had one day with a solid 80fish between myself and father in law.

We did really well in September/early October on the Steelhead here on the Clearwater this year. I had more fish than I knew what to do with!! So I tried canning a batch because the albacore tuna turned out so well. It went above and beyond my expectations!!! I’ll definitely be canning more in the future.

Haha all those bass were between 7-1 and 10-7, the biggest one was 25” long…I’ve seen a lot of pictures where guys catch a giant fish and make them look well below average by holding them against their chest…why make them look smaller than they actually were?
"sitting far behind the trophy in order to make it look bigger only makes you look smaller"
