"Boy, I say boy, pay close attention to me“

I taught him what I knew, or what I thought I knew. And I guess he did pay attention

He went and scouted a new area Monday morning and saw a small herd not far from his house.

This morning, he went in there and sealed the deal all by himself.

Then he called Dad to come help him pack it out.
It took me over 3 hours to get there, climb the mountain and find him.

What a bull!!!

Proud dad for sure 👍

BTW - less than a mile from the truck on OTC public land.

Go Deep Boys. Go Deep

This is beautiful and inspiring! I didn't grow up in a hunting family and started hunting at 23 but what you're sharing here is an example of one of the reasons why I continuously keep getting out there. I want my children to become more skilled & capable than I and especially so we can share kick ass memories/experiences like the ones you did with your son. Thanks for posting!

Well done By Fog and Egg. (y)

And I damn sure needed to smile after this day, and your post and THIS video made me smile a few times.

I’ll add a little more to the story.

My son’s wife was along with him when they went after the elk. It was her first time elk hunting.
Boy, is she spoiled now!

She helped pack meat too.

We shuttled the meat halfway down since it was such a warm day. Hung it in a cooler spot and then got it to the truck

Here’s a little tip

Hook the front leg up under the antler to keep it out of the way when quartering

Tell me more about this tip. I have only quartering game from the spine and work one side at a time. How are you doing it where belly side up works for you?

Congrats of your son’s bull
