I am looking for the correct order of steps to take to setup a bow. I have done this once before, but I am not sure if I followed the correct order (its been about 2yrs, and I cannot remember the steps I had taken then, brain fog). I am a right Hand guy, but left eye dominant. due to some issues i could not use my LH bow this year, but late in the season I tried shooting it, and on my 3rd shot, the string broke (1.5yr old string, with only about 225-250 shots thru it). String was warrantied, just got it back, its a Hoyt LH Vector 35. 55-65lbs, limbs are good, Bottom cam ended up with a bad bearing, so I am replacing all bearings, and since the bearings are out, going to Cerekote them. Also swapping sight from an HHA to a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL 2 pin.

this is what I thought on setup.
1) install new strings, verify ATA, poundage, timing, check/adjust Cam Lean
2) rest is still installed and was good before string break, re-install rest string to cable
3) setup nock height, set D-Loop
4) install new sight, setup Peep, (when setting up new sight, will try to get some measurements off old sight to get close)
5) paper tune, adjust Cam Lean if needed
6) verify sight (walk back tune)

Is this the correct procedure? or does it need some adjustments?
thanks

I consider the arrow set up equally as important to the bow set up, trying different spined arrows, different FOCs, and overall weights to find what will fly like a dart and paper tune bullet holes

I'm pretty good on my arrow's, shooting heavy upfront, and they fly and tune well. I just would like to know if these are the correct steps in the correct order for the bow setup.

Thanks for the input. I do agree the arrow should be set for what you are trying to do.

What kind of bow, cam system does the bow have? That makes a difference.

I would proceed through step 4 and then shoot the bow for a month as is. The strings cables will likely settle after installed. Once that happens you should be able to set it and forget it. I don't really do any tuning until I think the strings have settled, that way I don't need to do it again.

This ^^^. I won't even install a peep until I have at least 50 shots through it after making any adjustments. I always mark and measure everything once I get a bow set up so I can replace the strings and get it as close as possible to start with. Then shoot it 50+ times and check all the marks etc. Readjust if needed and shoot some more. Then I install the peep and reset the rest timing.......and then I start tuning. But at that point I should already be close to what it was before.

Sounds good, that is all helpful.
Bow is: 2012 Hoyt Vector 35 LH 55-65lbs. Cam#2 D slot. RKT Cam&1/2, XTS Arc Limbs.

Step #1, "adjust cam lean"...i would do that until you start tuning the bow

mike 5 miles is dead on about measuring everything to a knats ass prior to takedown...in fact take pictures.

Look back or search I’m pretty sure Brendan did a thorough step by step process with pictures last fall or late last summer. I think he was even doing a Hoyt.

Thanks guys, this was exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted to make sure I had the proper order this time. I’m also making a detailed log so I don’t have to keep asking.
